Middle School Mountain Bike Camp

Middle School group shotExplore the world of adventure sports! Mountain biking is an exciting way to get kids outdoors, improves cardiovascular fitness, and develops total body coordination. Lucky for us, the Grand Rapids area is home to numerous top-quality mountain bike trails. The day begins with a maintenance skill (know your bike!) followed by a riding skill. Every day we’ll then put those techniques into real-life action on local trails. Mountain biking is a lifelong activity that develops confidence, fitness, camaraderie, and is simply a ton of fun.

Instructor:  All sessions are led by David Koning, avid biker, high school teacher, and sponsor of the Christian High Adventure Club.  Guest superstars may appear as well.

Grades:  Current 6-8th graders.  This camp is appropriate for riders of all abilities.  Skills sets and trail riding are differentiated for all levels of riders, from the rank beginner to the more experienced.

Equipment:  The only requirements are that you have a bike suitable for riding on a narrow dirt trail (“mountain” or “hybrid” bicycle) and a helmet.

biking.brandonFood:  Snack provided. Each rider must bring 2 water bottles/day.

Transportation:  Drop off and pick up at GR Christian High, south lot.

Weather:  While it is important to not damage overly-wet trails, we plan to ride even in the rain.
